AUBG Professors are people like you and me. They go out, they party, they enjoy alcohol. Good alcohol, fancy alcohol, simple alcohol - it's different with them, as it is different with us. Here is what eight of our professors like to drink the most. Yavor Siderov, Southeast European studies professor I would recommend tequila made the right, Mexican way – drunk with lime and salt. I also like Irish whiskeys like Bushmills (40% alcohol), Tullamore Dew (40%) and, of course, nice strong red wines like Shiraz (15 %) and Mavrud (14%). | Jean Crombois, European studies professor I would recommend Targovishte white wine (12%) as an aperitif on a hot Bulgarian summer day. Some good scotch with ice is also good, but only for gentlemen. | Angel Popov, mathematics professor I prefer different kinds of fresh juices, which are pretty good in summer. No Coca-Cola! Alcoholic drinks could be mastic and aniseed drinks, as well as nice Grozdova Rakiya (50-60%). Professor Popov recommends reading “My Last Sigh” by the Spanish filmmaker Luis Bunuel. Drink gourmets may find the description of how to make English gin interesting. | Zlatina Ruseva, business professor I am awaiting a baby, thus I prefer mineral water and fresh juice. Two cups of carrot and apple juice per day are the guarantee of good heath during the winter. I prefer to prepare the juice, because the juice you can find in the store always contains some conservants. Red wine is useful as well. In Bulgaria any brand of wine is not too expensive. I would also recommend a cocktail with Martini Bianco (15%). | Anna-Maria Dean, music professor I like grapefruit and tomato juice. Alcoholic drinks I would recommend are red dry wines, Mavrud or Merlot (12-15%), both home-made and imported. | Sabina Wien, Bulgarian language professor To students, I would recommend a Coke and instant coffee cocktail, especially during the exams period. It wakens up your brain, but kills your stomach. For socializing purposes and cold evenings I would recommend Cointreau liqueur (40%). Yet boza is the best! | Nadeem Naqvi, economics professor I would recommend Oban 14 Year Old Single Malt scotch Whiskey (43%) and Johnnie Walker Black Label (40%) without any ice. | David Durst, business professor I prefer Pirinsko Beer (4.3%). |
