I decided to dedicate this entry to all those who believe that it’s not that important what to wear but who wears it and how. My best friend is Irish. She is pale, blond and has blue eyes. Her sense of taste is, well let’s put it this way- odd. She believes in mixing all the colours she could find when creating an outfit and when you try to persuade her that it doesn’t match she would remark with a smile that she is like a rainbow. She wears pink shades, bright scarves, stripy socks and flares. She sometimes puts a bright red lipstick on, or an eye shadow which is vivid enough to poke your eyes out, and yet she somehow makes it work. Be it for her bags or earrings that will match the shocking colour of her dress, or her cheerful disposition of life as a whole. She pulls off wearing what she does quite well, and is known for having this unique style that many envy her for. My best friend is not an exception. There are numerous examples of people with their uniqueness and different taste, who do not believe in fashion, or believe in it to some extent but don’t mind being called old fashioned, or strange. You got to agree with me on this one, it takes a lot of courage to stand up to the crowd and be different, because at the end of the day, these are the people that are easy to spot. Some look hideous, others look amazing, but as a whole they look diverse. Not everybody shares my point of view. I often hear people call other people freaks. I see how they them make fun, mock and look down on those who are different, both within the AUBG community and outside it. To be completely honest with you I have also engaged in gossiping about how “weird” some people dress, but that’s only natural, it’s part of human nature, isn't it? You may like them, gossip about them, laugh at them or get confused by them, because being different is...different. As a whole however, don’t you think we need those people with their own fashion and taste to make society look more colourful and fun?
