Not addressing this issue will be discussing how to win a ball game without admitting that our major player is crippled. The Information Resources report needs to state clearly that there exists a single most important setback to our "aspirations" – the Internet connection provided by our university is not acceptable. It is problematic! One does not need to be a specialist to understand that - if a youtube video cannot load in a dorm room without delay - if the Internet disconnects randomly without a particular reason something is wrong. Facebook groups such as Petition against OCC's internet (109 members) and OCC Resistance (139 members) indicate student concern over the issue. I want to know what are the core ills behind The Internet Problem in our university network. I don't want to hear that OCC or a specific someone is guilty. I want to hear exactly what are the major causes of our rubbish Internet connection. I want to know exactly why we have this problem, so that we can work together towards solving it. 1) Is it the low band-width?[1] 2) Is it the power cuts?[2] 3) Could it be "Misuse of the network by students and poor maintenance of the PCs "[3] But OCC must take the responsibility in analysing the network it has set up and in identifying the problem/s. And all that this responsibility entails. Maybe then we could improve the status quo. We certainly cannot alleviate the problem without having admitted it exists, and without knowing what caused it and is still causing it. Students have rang a bell too many times. The Five Year Plan will severely undermine its own purposes[4] if it fails to address the unacceptably weak Internet provided by AUBG.
