Reading through my mailbox, I decided to put forth my last entry for the blog on AUBG topics. Here is what I see as most important events that touched student life this semester: * We opened a new library which is by all indicators a success. * Student clubs, the veins of student activity, changed presidents. Students elected new senators. * The Westside Story musical project recruited performers, and is getting ready for the spring. * AUBG launched a survey and discussion on the drafting of a five-year strategic development plan. * The All Student Assembly saw more than 20% of the student body attend. As a tradition, senatorial proposals related to the SG budget were turned upside down. * The SG and the Stud Rep to the BoT presented false information on SG's budget on the ASA and to the Board of Trustees. Defacto did excellent in covering the fiasco. * AUBG email service continues to let obscene spam roam freely. The Internet connection in the dorms has not improved a notch from its wretched state of constant interruptions and low speed. * Erasmus exchange opportunities for EU citizens were slightly improved by adding more universities in Western Europe. * The Versus Chronicles brought a successful series of public debates to campus. * The Bulgarian Poets and Writers' Series brought several men and women of literature to campus. * A series of high-quality public lectures were brought to campus by the Investment and Finance clubs. Holidays are approaching and I wish each and every one of you good rest! Merry Christmas, if you celebrate it, and Happy New Year. PS. Here is a list of recently-published books, recommended by Elizabeth Kostova, best-selling novelist in the US, during her visit in AUBG. Gives us something to do during the month-long break!
