The construction of Skaptopara 3 will start this spring as soon as the Expert Territorial Planning Council approves a new plan for a bigger building.

There are no legal or financial problems concerning the terrain and the building of the camp, said Alexander Alexandrov, Vice President for Finance and Administration, during a press conference with the student media. The delay of the first dig is due to the decision of the university executives to make Skaptopara 3 bigger than planned.

AUBG changes not only the design of a building, but also the architectural plan of Blagoevgrad. This is the reason why the city administration should give its consent. The moment the university obtains a permission, a construction company will be hired. According to Alexandrov, the Expert Territorial Planning Council will approve the plan in two weeks’ time.

“Skapto 3 will accommodate up to 420 beds,” Alexandrov said. This will allow the university to increase the number of students by 400. Alexandrov said that he expects one of the blocks of Skaptopara 3 to be ready for the fall semester. At the moment there are 889 beds in both Skaptopara 1 and 2. According to the information from the Registrar’s office, there are 200 students graduating this semester, but there will not be enough places for the incoming students next academic year.
